A Sno Elf Hat for Elowyn

Recently I became aunt to a darling little elf-let, Elowyn. She was born into a family and community of amazing crafters, so this little girl is already in possession of the best handmade wardrobe anyone could have. To add to her collection, I knit up a sweet little elf hat in the softest wool we carry, Woolfolk Sno.

Pattern: Striped Elf Hat by Anna Daku (free pattern on Ravelry)
Yarn: 1 skein Woolfolk Sno in White + Black
Size Made: Newborn
Modifications: I adjusted the number of stitches to make this smaller size

This sweet elf hat is just perfect in the unbelievably soft marled Sno yarn from Woolfolk. Perfect for little soft bald baby heads! This pattern from Anna Dakos is written in a 12 month size, so to make it a little smaller for Elowyn's first winter, I cast on 148 stitches instead of the pattern's 180 stitches. I found the size is simple enough to alter by casting on more or less in increments of 16 stitches.

This tiny girl seems to be quite cozy in her new hat. This teeninsy tot topper took just about a half skein, so getting a larger size out of a single skein should be no problem.

My sister Emily is one of the craftiest people I know, and Elowyn is also sporting a handspun Darling soaker from Kelbourne Woolens Baby Collection and Cute as Can Be Booties in Tosh Merino Light Cousteau. Emily also made the sleeping pad with a yard of Southwestern Chambray Jacquard and cotton batting.
