Amber's Candy Darling Accessory Set

At the last TNNA trade show, I got a sneak peek at Kelbourne Woolens' Pop Collection for the new Fibre Company Arranmore Light yarn. I immediately fell for the high contrast colorwork in the sweet accessories pattern, Candy Darling, by Kate Gagnon Osborn. Each of the pattern samples paired black and white with bright pops of color.

The crisp geometric colorwork caught my eye, and I decided to whip up a sample of this fun project. After mulling the colors over, the range of beautiful blues in Arranmore Light were calling me. I decided to knit an all indigo themed version of Candy Darling.

Amber Corcoran's Candy Darling Hat

I love knitting colorwork. It keeps my interest throughout a project, which means I tend to finish things faster.

The Candy Darling hat and mittens are oh-so-perfect for cold weather! The ribbed brim of the hat is fully lined, which makes it extra warm for cold ears. When starting this project, make sure to read thoroughly which color to cast on with--it's not the color you'll see on the outside, but the lining color. I had to rip out my first several rows because I started with the wrong color.

The mittens are also fully lined, and I've never felt such warm mittens! Colorwork adds warmth to knitting, and the lining makes them a dream for cold windy days.

This new light DK tweed yarn was so very lovely to knit with, looks fantastic in colorwork or with one color alone, and makes such a beautiful weight fabric!

    Amber,
I love the hat and mittens, but I also love your new puppy. I have two Old English Sheepdogs. Last year I had to knit the Baa-ble Hat so that I could wear it while walking them.
Do you ever bring your pup to the store?
