Kaylee's Campfire Messenger Bag

I have made a whole bunch of the Noodlehead bag patterns and they always come out amazing. So when I saw Anna Graham’s Campfire Messenger Bag in knew it would be super cute and a huge success. Paired with Juliana Horner’s spunky and bold Fast Friends fabric I was so pleased with this fun and functional bag.

Pattern: Campfire Messenger Bag from Noodlehead
Materials: 3/4 yard Exterior fabric, 3/4 yard Lining fabric, Fat Quarter Flap fabric, 3/4 yard Accent fabric, 2 yards Fusible Woven Interfacing, 1/3 yard ByAnnie’s Soft and Stable, 6″ non-separating zipper, snaps, 4 - 1/2″ x 1″ Metal Rectangles, 1″ Metal Strap Slider
Modifications: Skipped the top closure

When we got in a few sample cuts of the FreeSpirit Fast Friends line I fell in love with the Black Bangs print. I knew I wanted to make something that showed off this very unusual, artistic fabric and I thought the Campfire Messenger Bag would be the perfect canvas.

I paired it with one of my favorite basic fabrics, Robert Kaufman’s Yarn dyed Essex. This beautiful cotton/linen blend has a great texture and seriously goes with EVERYTHING.

Once you get all the pieces cut, this bag comes together quickly. It’s fun to make and has tons of interior pockets which I love. I went ahead and hand stitched the top binding down instead of machine stitching it. It did add a little bit of time, but makes the bag look some much cleaner.

For the interior I used ByAnnie’s Soft and Stable which I pretty much swear by! It’s what gives this bag a very structured look, but it’s great for bags of all shapes. I highly recommend you give it a try if you have never used it before. It really is one of my favorite sewing products.

As always, Anna Graham does not disappoint with this awesome, easy to follow, pattern!

Missed this class but would love to take it, if you have it again.
