Kelly's Chunky, Squishy Crochet Infinity Scarf

I wanted to make something quick and easy for myself now that the holidays are over and The Radness colorway in Madelinetosh ASAP immediately caught my eye with its neon pink and yellow flecks throughout the skein. Plus, the softness of ASAP cannot be passed up! I grabbed two skeins knowing that whatever project I was going to make, I was most likely going to need more than one.

Detail of Madelinetosh ASAP

I searched around on one of my new favorite blogs, Mama In a Stitch, for a crochet pattern that would show off the bright colors of The Radness and not hide it's beauty in the stitches. When I saw the “Chunky, Squishy Crochet Infinity Scarf” pattern, I knew it was definitely one I wanted to try. Jessica from Mama In a Stitch has many different free patterns for both crocheting and knitting on her website and all of her instructions and patterns are easy to read and use.

The pattern calls for a size N hook, but I only had a size M on hand so I decided to follow the pattern without adding any stitches and knew that the scarf would be slightly different in size.  Once I got started on my scarf, I was really happy to see how the stitches highlighted the colors and didn’t hide anything.  The stitch is called the “lemon peel stitch” and it’s perfect for the scarf because it’s a reversible stitch that looks the same on both sides.  It uses just single crochet and double crochet stitches and the scarf came together really quickly!

I have a lot of black and grey in my wardrobe, so adding this kind of color pop is exactly what I needed during these winter months!  The scarf is the perfect amount of ‘chunky’ for me. I wore my infinity scarf all day and it didn’t overwhelm me nor did I ever get hot and have to take it off.  I’m already planning my next infinity scarf that can continue to compliment my wardrobe and keep me cozy and warm all day long.
