Kelly's Denver Skyline Embroidery Kit

It’s impossible to walk into Fancy Tiger Crafts, pass by their embroidery section and not stop to ‘ohhh’ and ‘awww’ at everything one sees. As I shopped the store one day, a particular embroidery kit by Studio MME caught my eye. I had never taken on an embroidery project before, but the Denver Skyline Kit was just too cute to pass by. As I read over the kit, I saw that it contained everything I needed to finish the project (always a win for me!) and decided it would be the perfect going-away gift for a friend who was leaving Denver. I also love that this kit is available exclusively at Fancy Tiger Crafts, making it even more unique!

My kit included the following:

  • Needle
  • Embroidery floss
  • Preprinted design on 100% cotton
  • 8” embroidery hoop
  • Easy-to-follow instructions and stitch guide

Since I was new to embroidery, I used the free stitch guide at studiomme.com to learn the three recommended stitches (satin, running and back stitch) for the project. From there I got started and was quickly hooked on it all!

These kits come with the colored-coded pattern printed on cotton. One of the things I love about this pattern is the freedom to add more detail or follow it as printed. I choose to add some extra stitch lines throughout the piece and flipped around how I used the satin stitch for the building windows. I also tried to use more than the recommended three strands of embroidery floss to add dimension and shadows in the mountain range.

This project gave me confidence in my new craft and I was impressed with how easy it was to complete. With simple instructions on how to finish the piece, it can make a great gift for a loved one or just look amazing on your wall at home!
