Lauren's Escher Cardigan

It may be 90 degrees in Denver, but I’m dreaming of Fall! Brooklyn Tweed continuously impresses me with each pattern they release. I love the creative construction of their garments and the yarn is truly one of a kind. I fell in love with the Escher Cardigan and quickly set to work on my own.

Pattern: Escher Cardigan by Alexis Winslow for Brooklyn Tweed
Yarn: Brooklyn Tweed Loft: 1 skein in Cast Iron, 1 skein in Snowbound, and 3 skeins in Soot
Size Made: 35.5”
Modifications: Did not add buttonhole

There’s something irresistible to me about a slouchy cardigan. Escher is the perfect balance between cozy and stylish. The triangle color work on the back gives this cardigan a modern feel with a flattering shape. I loved the colors of the original pattern so I stuck with those for my version.

The construction of Escher was different than what I had expected before reading the pattern. The back is essentially knit flat all the way across before picking up the stitches for the ribbing. The ribbing moves in a circular shape around the flat piece and creates a beautiful collar and lower edging.

I try to be open to new yarns, but I always come back to Brooklyn Tweed. I’ve made projects in Loft, Shelter, and Quarry, and I love them all! The colorways are amazing and each yarn creates a structure that’s totally unique to BT. Loft creates a beautiful tweedy fabric that’s both soft and warm. The yarns are sensitive so be sure to use a gentle touch when tugging on the yarn.

Now that my Escher is done I’m ready for Fall ASAP! I think this will be a cardigan for any occasion.
