Marled Mawson Hat + Marled Shelter Release

You guys!!!! Today Brooklyn Tweed released a few marled versions of one of my absolute favorite yarns, Shelter. They also released a wonderfully simple 1x1 ribbed hat pattern with beautiful, polished decreases at the top to go with it. I already made it! I’m already in love with both!

Marled Shelter Colorways

For a while now I have been thinking about making a hat holding two colors of Loft, the fingering weight version of Shelter, together. The problem is that I am just not really a fan of knitting with yarn held together. Luckily Brooklyn Tweed read my mind and released these amazing marled yarns in the same rustic yarn base that I know and love.

The best part about the yarn release is that they released the perfect hat pattern to accompany it….for FREE! All you have to do is purchase one of the new marled Shelter yarns, in store or online, and you will receive a coupon code for a free download of the pattern good through August 31st.

The Mawson pattern has two height options, the beanie and the watchcap. I made the taller watchcap version which is 1.5” taller than the beanie and I am so happy that I did because I absolutely love the option of a rolled up brim.

I was initially drawn to the tan and white color Caribou, but I really like all three of the marled colors they released and can’t wait to make something with each of them. I might even make another Mawson. The taller version requires two skeins, but the beanie only calls for skein of yarn. Not bad for the perfect unisex hat. Can you say Christmas gifts for everybody?
