Sarah's Cozy Pocket Sweater

After we hosted a trunk show of Quince & Co. sweaters, I knew I needed a chunky Puffin sweater in my life. The Agnes fit the bill perfectly. Long sleeves and pockets for maximum cozy lounging potential and a flattering boat-neck raglan design for style. This is one of my very first sweaters so the simple, no-fuss design was perfect and approachable.

The Agnes was designed for the fluffy, single ply Puffin yarn and I chose not to mess with perfection. The color Honey was my hands-down first choice, the lovely warm pea-green was the coziest color for the coziest sweater.

I love how quickly this project knit up! Had I actually been able to focus on this project and not have to do homework and things, it would have taken me about a week to finish this speedy sweater! This was the first sweater I had ever cast on, so it was pretty magical to start with a ribbed neck and see a sweater slowly grow on my needles. This was the first knitting experience I ever had that made me realize that knitting is sculpting, BUT WITH YARN.

This is such a basic, classic design, which is exactly what I love most about it. It allowed me to learn about the construction of a knitted garment without the fuss of additional fancy details. I love the look of the boat neck! I think it may be one of the most flattering things in the whole world, and the a-line like silhouette. Classy and cozy.

As this was the first time I had ever attempted a knit garment, I chose not to make any modifications to the pattern. I chose to go one size up from what I would have normally made for myself to allow for layering and bundling, but the next time I make the Agnes I am going to try the next size down for a closer fit. I also think I need to shorten the sleeves a little!

This whole process was one of learning. It was my first ever swatch, raglan shaping, sweater and a whole slew of other things. I loved knitting in the side pockets and finishing them with a three needle bind off for a clean, invisible finish.

I will be wearing this super warm guy with jeans and leggings constantly, and over dresses as a replacement coat all winter long!
