2016 A Year In Review
2016 was a very big year for Fancy Tiger Crafts. As many of you know, this year marks our 10th year of business! Things have certainly grown and changed since our first year, and we are so proud to have grown up in such an incredible community. Here are a few of the cool things we were able to do this year!
First off, we released a BUNCH of new patterns! We created two garment patterns, the Adventure Tank and the Wanderlust Tee...
In addition we released three printed quilt patterns, Double Star, Supernova, and Four Winds plus our whole collection of Constellation quilt blocks! It's been a very busy year for us, pattern-wise!
As part of our 10th Anniversary party, we were able to put together a few very unique projects. One of those projects was the Denver Skyline Embroidery Kit. We teamed up with Megan Eckman of Studio MME to create this Fancy Tiger exclusive kit!
Another one of our really amazing 10th Anniversary projects was something that we have been dreaming about doing for a very long time. We created a completely Colorado sourced and spun yarn (and unspun roving), Junegrass!
And you can't have a beautiful yarn without having an amazing pattern to go with it so we got together with the talented Carrie Bostick Hoge to create the Junegrass Pullover Pattern!
In addition to all of the great patterns we released this year, we also teamed up with Creativebug to offer several of online classes too. We have classes for our Pendleton clutch, MiniPet, and Doublestar Quilt, plus classes on our Wanderlust Tee, Adventure Tank too.
As always, we love to travel and this year was an exceptional year for us. We went to both Sweden and the Yorkshire Dales. Follow the links to read about our incredible trips!
We were excited to represent for Fancy Tiger Crafts at Quiltcon. We are so proud of Shawna, who had two quilts in the show—her quilt "Red Hot" even won Lisa Congdon's Judges choice—and Amber who had her "Cancer & Taurus" Constellation Quilt in this stunning show of modern quilts.
This year brought a crew of amazing and talented guest crafters to the store. Sonya Philip of 100 Acts of Sewing taught a class on her Pants No. 1 pattern, Stephen West stopped by to step up our brioche skills, Sophie Hines released her Euler Bra and Arrcos Undies patters with a class at Fancy Tiger, Lotta Jansdotter visited us after her book Everyday Style came out, Sew Caroline taught us how to make her Florence Kimono, and Denyse Schmidt led a workshop on improv quilting.
We hosted two knitalongs, one for a Gansey style sweater and one for the Loopy Mango Big Cotton Long Vest. We are getting ready to cast on our first KAL of 2017 too! Check out the details here.
We also hosted two sewalongs this year. We made two of the big makes, jeans and coats!
You may have noticed that things look a little different around here. Another big project that we took on as this year came to a close was the launch of our new website. We are so excited about all the new features and we hope you are loving it too!
Finally, you can't even imagine how honored we were when Fancy Tiger was named one of the "10 great knitting and yarn shops across North America" by USA today.
Basically it is been a fantastic year for Fancy Tiger Crafts. Thank you for the continued support for these past 10 years!
