Guernsey Knit Along Wrap-up

Guernseys galore! We wrapped up the KAL at Tuesday's craft night, and several knit-alongers showed up with their beautiful finished sweaters. They are all stunning! Enjoy these beauties, then read to the end to see our #fancykal prize winners.

Amber
Pattern: Seascale by Courtney Kelley
Yarn: The Fiber Company's Cumbria in Grizedale Forest
Favorite thing about the project? Trying out new techniques like the underarm gusset and the Channel Island cast-on and bind-off. It was just a generally fun knit with just enough excitement and plenty of satisfyingly simple stitch patterns!
What are you planning to knit next? On the needles, I have a handspun Lila Light by Carrie Bostick Hoge, and I'd love to make the cozy Bannock by Norah Gaughan

Jaime
Pattern: Seascale by Courtney Kelley
Yarn: Baa Ram Ewe's Dovestone DK in Bramley Bath
Favorite thing about the project? I loved the interesting construction pieces and new techniques like the split hem, the Channel Island cast-on and underarm gusset
What are you planning to knit next? I'm working on the Birch Bay by Julie Hoover

Emily

Pattern: Seascale by Courtney Kelley
Yarn: The Fiber Company's Cumbria in Castlerigg
Favorite thing about the project? Learning the Channel Island cast-on
What are you planning to knit next? The Brynja litla by Hélène Magnússon

Alyson

Pattern: Seascale by Courtney Kelley
Yarn: Cascade 220 in Pistachio
Favorite thing about the project? I liked learning the Channel Island cast-on and the gussets, but mostly I liked watching the pattern emerge. I did not like the Channel Island cast-off.
What are you planning to knit next? Deciding between a very lightweight 3/4 sleeve cardigan and a set of socks. I have never made socks, maybe it's time.

Shawna

Pattern: Seascale by Courtney Kelley

Yarn: Brooklyn Tweed's Shelter in Homemade Jam
Favorite thing about the project? It's my first sweater!
What are you planning to knit next? The Jules sweater by Brooklyn Tweed

Kate

Pattern: Starfish Cardigan by Amy Christoffers
Yarn: The Fiber Company's Cumbria in Windermere
Favorite thing about the project? The yarn is so beautiful and has the perfect amount of mohair in it.
What are you planning to knit next? Outlander Shawl by Rachel Roden

Nice work, all! (Check out those celebratory underarm gussets!) Now for prizes! It was so fun following along with everyone with the #fancykal hashtag.

For best in-progress photo, the prize goes to @katewilkes for her "I-might-actually-finish-this-sweater/chicken dance". The sweater is looking good Kate! Keep it up! Kate will receive the Greenrow Hat pattern by Kate Gagnon Osborn and a skein of Cumbria to make it!

For best finished sweater photo, the prize goes to @knitpurlspin for her Seascale Sweater. She naturally dyed her own colorway of Quince and Co's Owl with logwood for this pretty, purple-hued guernsey. We love the harborside photos she and friend Wesley took of her new fisherman style sweater. Perfect! She also can knit while sleeping btw, which is every knitter's dream. A Fancy Tiger Crafts gift card is headed her way!

Thanks everyone for participating! For those of you still knitting, keep posting those pictures as you finish up your sweaters, we love seeing your progress!
