Jaime's Wool Gypsum Skirt

It isn't officially winter, but it sure feels like it here in Colorado. I decided my wardrobe needed a cozy wool skirt to pair with sweaters, wool leggings and boots for this winter season. The Gypsum Skirt with its unique and adorable silhouette paired with a lovely olive wool fabric fit the bill perfectly.

You'll be sad to know this is a fabric I had in my stash for a while that is now sold out. Don't despair, gentle readers! While this fabric is out of stock, we have plenty of great wool fabrics in stock right now that would make amazing Gypsum Skirts (or Estuary Skirts, Sew Liberated's newest skirt pattern).



One amazing feature of the Gypsum skirt pattern, it features flat-felled seams all around. This construction means that all my edges are neatly encased—perfect for a fabric that frays a lot such as a wool twill. It was a little fiddly to execute these seams, but the result is well worth the effort.

The skirt has two views. I chose view A with its oversized, side pockets. So dramatic! I love them.



Overall, this is a great, simple pattern that is easy to elevate with a beautiful wool fabric for winter wear. Of course, now I want to knit a cropped Nurtured Sweater to pair with it... stay tuned!
