Amanda's Harvest Hinterland Dress
Every year, I have a hard time cutting myself off from summer sewing. The simple silhouettes, the breathable fabrics (especially linen!), the flowy drapes....I could sew for summer all year and be a happy gal. The Hinterland Dress by Sew Liberated easily fits into those categories, but this versatile dress also makes a great transition piece for fall. I sewed up a sleeveless version with layering in mind.
Pattern: Hinterland Dress by Sew Liberated
Fabric: Essex Yarn Dyed Linen in Leather
Size: 12
Mods: Patch pockets, slightly tapered shoulders, upcycled buttons
I read many reviews online before making this dress and decided to start with a size smaller that I normally sew - that was definitely the right choice. The silhouette of this dress is very roomy. The original pattern includes inseam pockets, but I wanted something a little bigger and a little more front and center, so I chose to sew on patch pockets instead.
This color of Essex Yarn is such a perfect neutral. And that texture provides another layer of dimension with the upcycled buttons I used. These were from a very old denim shirt. There is something magical about using old buttons on something new - there's a story there, a depth. I highly recommend!
I plan to wear this lovely all year long: with tshirts and clogs through the fall, then long sleeves, a cardi and tights as the weather turns frosty. It's a versatile wardrobe builder, and I can't wait to make more!
