Well, I’ve done it again, I’ve completed a knitting project! My third of the year, which is honestly pretty unusual for me, I don’t normally find myself finishing knitting projects at such a high rate. I’m much faster at knocking out my sewing “to make” list.
As usual, this one started with the yarn. When we received our first order of Daylight Linen from Flax and Twine I knew immediately I wanted to make something with it. So I go to work picking my pattern out.
I love the easy, breezy, simple, pastoral (Hobbiton?) vibe of this vest. It is such a fun and quick project to whip up- the pattern didn’t lie when it said I’d be one in no time!I do find the arm holes to be a bit deep for my liking, so if I ever find myself in need of another vacation vest, I will definitely shorten those. As they are, the deep armholes don’t bother me too much, so I’m sure I’ll get a lot of wear out of my new vest through the rest of the summer and into the fall.
One thing I love about knitting with linen and cotton, is being able to wash my knits in the washing machine (gasp!). As soon as my vest came off the needles I threw it in the washer (and dryer!) and boy an I happy that I did! The Daytime Linen worked up into a beautiful knit fabric that is squishy, wobbly, and lustrous. I could not be more pleased, and I know it will only get better with wear and more washings.
