Heather's Breezy Brome
I have never received so many compliments on a handmade wardrobe piece as I have this dress! It’s so comfortable and quick to make. The Brome will quickly become one of your most loved and worn pieces.
Pattern: Brome, View C by Amber Corcoran
Materials: 4 yards Andover Ikat Wovens in Night Sky
Size: 16
I have been having a love affair with ikats lately so I thought a maxi dress was the perfect chance to show off the beautiful weave of the fabric. I went with an Andover ikat - it’s so soft and it drapes and washes wonderfully.
I made a few alterations to make this beautiful garment match my personal style more closely. I made 2 pleats each in the front and back forgoing the gathering. I left off the buttons on the placket and didn’t make a waist tie. And lastly, I made the bias tape around the armholes a little larger so it works almost as a mini facing.
I already have my eye on a few new ikats for my next one! Check back this week for more Bromes and an introduction
